Spring 2021 — Introduction to LaTeX
Professor Chris Edwards provided a two part workshop on the foundations of the popular type-setting system LaTeX. In part one, we learned how to efficiently create beautiful mathematical expressions and data tables in text documents. In part two, we learned about importing figures, tables, and references into LaTeX, reviewed an example of a template from a scientific journal, and more. Winter 2021 — How to Write a Scientific Paper
Professor Ana Christina Ravelo walked us through the basics of setting out to write a scientific paper for publication in a research journal. In this workshop, we went over how to determine if you're ready to write a paper, things to think about before you start, and some tools for structuring and outlining. Winter 2020 — Grad/Undergrad STEM Mixer
CORE and GEODES hosted the second annual graduate/undergraduate STEM mixer! Over 100 undergraduate students interested in STEM had a chance to hear about research opportunities and mingle with prospective graduate student mentors. Thank you to all who helped and attended this event to make it such a success!
